9 a.m. - HEELING
For Teams of differing levels, that are comfortable with heel position, but may wish to sharpen up their dog's skills or attitude. Is your dog attentive while heeling? Are you the most interesting thing in the room? Beautiful Heeling is more than walking with your dog beside you. It is like watching the teamwork of Ice Dancers. Every step and movement are choreographed. But it looks effortless. And it feels even better. Come to this class to build better teamwork.
Heeling Games + Attitude + Appropriate Proofing + Heeling Puzzles + Forwards + Halts + Figure 8 + Left Turns + Right Turns + About Turns
10 a.m. - Recall and Position Changes
It is the next to last exercise in Novice, and often performed with a lot of stress. We'll work on Foundation, Confidence and Fun of Recall, in addition to teaching your dog to obey commands from a distance. We will also work on Drop on Recalls where appropriate. And we will also cover "Stay" - the most overlooked command in Obedience. Long thought to be a passive command, you'll learn to add value for making it an active effort. And let's not forget those pesky fronts and finishes, which can get you in, or keep you out of the placements.
Recalls + Drop On Recalls + Fronts + Finishes + Stays + Sits to Downs + Stand to Down + Stand to Sit
11 a.m. - "Dog" - Essori
A play on words from the Montessori learning fame, this class will be an opportunity to work your dog at the pace you select, fostering rigorous, self-motivated growth. The Training Room will be sectioned off, so that different appropriate level exercises can be performed in each. Exercises will NOT be drilled - but teams will move from station to station, with overview instruction.
Each class will begin with a "learning theory" to be applied to the stations for that day.
