BEGINNER CLASS CANINE GOOD CITIZEN COMPETITIVE CLASSES
Beginner Class: Tuesdays at 6:00 pm This is where we start.  During this class you will teach your dog basic good manners.  That includes sit, down, stand, stay and walk on a lead. Canine Good Citizen/Therapy Dog: Tuesdays at 7:00 pm The purpose of Canine Good Citizen program sponsored by the American Kennel Club, is to ensure your dog can be a respected member of the community.  Dogs pass the test by demonstrating that they can act mannerly at home, in public and in the presence of other dogs.  This is a six week class that is open to all dogs.  We give the canine good citizenship test at the end of our classes.  We offer the TDI (Therapy Dogs International) test periodically through out the year Tricks Class:  This is the perfect opportunity to teach your dog some tricks to impress family and friends as well as strengthen the bond between you and your dog.  Teaching a dog to do tricks is also an opportunity to continue the learning process with your dog.  Each time you teach a dog something new you are strengthening  your position as the leader and keeping your dog mentally stimulated at the same time.  If you are doing any type of therapy work, these skills will enhance the enjoyment of those that come into contact with your dog.  If your dog does any type of competitive dog events, these skills are a perfect way to warm your dog up and get your dog mentally connect to you before going into the ring. And now AKC is offering a title for the tricks your dog does!  Click here for more information. Competitive Classes Beginner Novice/Novice:  This class is for those who wish to continue working on the basics and are perhaps interested in obedience competition.  It builds upon the basic exercises with emphasis on heeling, attention and Novice Obedience exercises.  (Note Novice is the first level of obedience competition.) Open:  This class is for those whose dog has already learned all the Novice exercises. These dogs are ready to work on more advance exercises such as retrieve, jumping and drop on recall.  Prerequisite required.      Utility:  This class is for those whose dog as already learned all the open exercises.  These dogs are ready to work on competition exercises at the highest level.  Prerequisite required.  Rally:  This is a sport in which the dog and the handler complete a course with stations providing instructions regarding the next skill that is to be performed.  Rally  is a sport that takes obedience and puts it in an agility format.  It promotes fun and enjoyment for dogs and handlers.

Dogs like to obey. It gives them security.    James Herriot
